SHARK BAIT OOH HA HA

Brad officially has the fishing bug. We've gone three times in the last month and Brad has gone at least six other times on top of that. It works out perfectly with Finley's bedtime because the best time to fish is right at dusk which is right before she gets cranky and sleepy. We haven't really caught much that we can eat but Brad is determined to have a meal out of our hard work. Brad also learned to fly fish this past week from his friend Rowland so now he's excited to expand our pole supply. It really is never ending. It was nice to go fishing this past week with friends so Finley could have someone to play with - she's not quite old enough for her own pole yet. Isn't that Reid a cutie?

This picture would be a whole lot more believable if my pole was bending at all. Yeah, I wasn't quite reeling in the catch of my life but I'm all set for when that happens.

SWIM DAY

Finley is still a little uneasy about water in general. Which makes me sad because swimming is one of my very favorite things - especially now that I don't have to do laps for three hours every time I'm at a pool. I was going to enroll us in a waterbabies class but none of them work with our schedule. So I'm determined to go to the pool as much as possible so she can learn to love the water - my parenting philosophy is to force your children to love the things you love. That works, right?

Our weather has been a little cold and rainy this week but on Friday it warmed up just enough that I thought it would be okay. Oops. I forgot to account for the fact that it needs to be a bit above "warm" so that the water can get heated too. It was a little chilly but after a few minutes she got comfortable enough to not cling to me for dear sweet life. She splashed and laughed a little but I think a few more visits are in order. I know, I have a hard life.

SO CAN DANCE - WK 2 - TOP 20 AGAIN

GUEST JUDGE: Debbie Reynolds. Such a strange choice for their target audience but I love her. Singing In the Rain is definitely in my top five all time favorite movies.

KAT: This is very close to being a truly awful brides maid dress, but I think she's pulling it off.

LIL NEPOTIZ & JEGGINGS!

I can't believe he revealed her leg hair growth when clearly he is insane for thinking the name Ricky is better than Roderick. Trust dude. Roderick is better! And gag me. Why oh why did they put him in a bustier? Or like Brad asked, "Is he wearing a back harness?" I liked their dance although it did border on inappropriate. Scandaliza - this is a family show!

VENEERS & LITTLE HEAD - CONTEMPORARY

This is our first real look at Little Head aaaaand I thought Veneers was stronger than him. Dang. Maybe that's why he punched her half way through the routine. Accident? Yeah right. Although I really did believe the chemistry. I liked this choreo and I can't believe it took them until week two to use Adele. For shame!

WADIJONES & SAUCY PANTS - CHA CHA

Where is Jean-Marc's wife? You know, the silent one with the insanely red hair? WadiJones looked sooooo uncomfortable. Fake it till you make it man! I am in total agreement with Nigel. His arms looked so limp and weak but during the lifts he looked strong. And I agree that Saucy did alright. Although I will say that the choreo showed her off a whole lot more. That has got to be so awkward when they praise one partner and kick the other in the, um, knee. Settle down Debbie! We are only on the third partner and you're already taking one home?!

ALLY MCBEAL & SOFT SHOE - BOLLYWOOD

I can't believe that miss skin n' bones told Soft Shoe that he had chicken legs. Pot meet kettle. Dude that was a little painful to watch Ally McBeal. Did she think she was doing hip hop? She had the hand movements down but everything else was awful. Soft Shoe was better but not by much, he looked a little gangly. I was not a fan and I think the judges soft-balled them big time because they are afraid of losing their ONE ballroom dancer. PICK MORE BALLROOM DANCERS TO BEGIN WITH!

WOO GUY & CURLY SUE - HIP HOP

She has a crush on Crazy Eyes? And Woo Guy totally outed her? I LOVE IT. Tabitha and Napoleon! So happy they are back. The lifts in the middle were a little off. The first minute was awesome but as the dance went on they got less precise. Woo Guy looked really comfortable - but he should. Overall it was a respectable effort for how fast the choreo was and how ridiculous their costumes were. OH MY GOSH! Did Debbie just do a woodpecker imitation? She must be sipping the Mary juice.

SILENCE OF THE LAMBS & NAPOLEON - CONTEMPORARY

He draws stick figure orchestras? I don't know what to say. But I think that almost makes me like him. Actually they did well. I liked them a whole lot more this week, especially her. I think he might be super talented, not a whole lot of power but he definitely has some amazing control. I don't think I agree with Nigel on this one, I thought they did better than he let on.

CRAZY EYES & STRIPPER MCGEE - VIENNESE WALTZ

She thought So Can Dance had their own airlines (what?) and he packs his stuff color coordinated in zip loc baggies. That's just good sense! The choice of music was classic Jean-Marc. He always picks ridiculously dramatic music. This was kinda boring but it is kind of amazing that Crazy Eyes did so well. Curly Sue is going to be so sad! Crazy Eyes totally kissed Stripper McGee at the end there. I smell a love triangle.

BOY HAIR & MOWGLI - JAZZ

I love that he loves romance novels. That is hysterical. Mandy Moore is not my favorite choreographer and this was not my fav choreo. It seemed a little too easy. With what they were given I think it was danced well, especially the jump split thing. And I agree with the judges that this is probably the best partnership. I officially love them.

SISTER/SISTER & RICO SUAVE - HIP HOP

I totally believe that he likes to look at himself in the mirror. Their routine was really good! I worried about the chemistry but I was picking up what they were throwing down. She out danced him but he did well considering he's practically a ballerino.

ASHLEYBANKS & PART DUEX - BROADWAY

That was a fun little number, and I thought they did well with the choreo. So Can Dance is on a roll with the Broadway because this was another non-boring routine. Brad attested that a lot of the stuff Part Duex was doing was a lot harder than it looked, he was super impressed with his strength. And I'm really jealous of her dress - how fun would that be to dance around in?

IN THE BOTTOM

  • Soft Shoe & Ally McBeal
  • Wadijones & Saucy McGee
  • Lil Nepotiz & Jeggings!
I agree with the bottom except for Lil Nepotiz and Jeggings!, and I'm really glad the judges decided to keep them. But really who else deserved to be in the bottom?, they totally made the right choice which doesn't happen too often. It stinks that the two couples who got kicked happened to pick dances that were way out of their element but that's the nature of the beast. So long! Hopefully Saucy doesn't turn to stripping and hopefully McBeal doesn't break her collarbone not eating.

See you next week!
